NEWS:
12/04/05 - TRACY HIGH PLACES 2ND
in the 2005 California North Regional Grade-level Scholastic Chess Championships
Tracy High Chess is proud to announce our 2nd place win at the CalNor. Regional
Grade-level Championships held at UOP in Stockton on December 3rd to 4th, 2005. The two representatives from Tracy High were
Vice President Brandon DeHaas and President Tiancheng (James) Wang, who won, respectively, 3rd Place and 2nd Place in 10th
Grade individuals. This is not a small achievement, as the tournament was open to the entirety of Northern California, drawing
players from places like Sacramento and the Bay Area. Our chess team will represent Tracy High next year in the CalChess Scholastics
to be held in San Jose.
11/12/05 - WE BEAT WEST!
Tracy High Chess won 1st Place against West Chess in the 1st Annual
Tracy v. West Chess Tournament on Saturday, November 12th, 2005! Although the fight was long, our team ultimately
scored an outsanding 88 to 53, a devastating blow to West. Congratulations to all of us on the club
team: Tiancheng (James) Wang, Neil Thakor, Brandon DeHaas, Jeffrey Perez, Sean Toon, and Jason Hunter! Individual medals and
one individual trophy were awarded, and the massive school trophy will be displayed in room 71. We all did a great
job out there. Keep up the good work!
Special thanks to our club publicity director, Leanne Doughty, for informing the
Tracy Press of this event!
Check us out on the newspaper! You can find us on the 11/14/05 issue of the Tracy Press.
And let us not forget to thank our devoted advisor, Mr. Greg Smith sacraficing his
